I've spent much of my career working on Alaska's fiscal and revenue challenges, including serving as Alaska's first Revenue Commissioner under Governor Dunleavy and as a trustee of the Alaska Permanent Fund. I've also been clear in public writing: Alaska cannot keep drifting from year to year, using uncertainty around the Permanent Fund and the dividend to avoid the hard work of long-term fiscal stability and disciplined budgeting.

That's why I'm endorsing Matt Heilala for Governor.

Matt is saying out loud what too many candidates dodge: we can't sustain multi-billion-dollar deficits, we shouldn't mislead Alaskans with promises that don't add up, and we must protect the Permanent Fund for the long term with a plan that is honest and sustainable.

Just as important, Matt is focused on real budget transparency, cutting waste, and growing Alaska's economy, rather than defaulting to broad-based taxes that could further weaken our workforce and private-sector outlook.

Alaska needs steady leadership that will tell the truth, protect our savings, and insist on a fiscal plan that lasts. Matt Heilala has earned my support.
