I am proud to endorse Matt Heilala for Governor. He was raised on the Kenai Peninsula, attended Soldotna High School, and began commercial fishing in Cook Inlet as a boy. He understands that fisheries are more than a campaign slogan. Our fish support families, traditions, small businesses, and this entire community.

I especially respect his willingness to approach fisheries policy with thoughtfulness and nuance. In a debate too often driven by slogans and scapegoats, Matt is willing to examine the facts, consider the consequences of decisions, and listen to the people whose livelihoods are directly affected. Alaska needs leaders who will protect our fisheries while recognizing the complexity of the people and industries that depend upon them.

I believe Matt will bring that same practical perspective to Alaska's broader challenges, focusing on economic opportunity, responsible resource development, private sector job creation, and measurable results rather than political slogans alone. Matt knows the Kenai, and he understands that lasting solutions require courage, common sense, and respect for the Alaskans who live with these decisions every day.
