Alaska has world-class energy resources. It's time for a governor who will unlock them responsibly, and lower costs for every Alaskan family.
Alaska is one of the energy capitals of the world. We sit on vast reserves of oil, natural gas, coal, and critical minerals. We have some of the greatest renewable energy potential on the planet, hydro, geothermal, tidal, and wind. Yet Alaskans pay some of the highest energy costs in the nation, and our resource projects are routinely blocked by federal bureaucracy and regulatory overreach.
That stops when Matt Heilala is Governor. The path to lower energy costs, more jobs, and a stronger Alaska economy runs directly through responsible, aggressive energy development. We don't need to choose between economic growth and environmental stewardship, we can and must do both.
Oil, Gas & Responsible Resource Development
Alaska's oil and gas industry is the engine of our state economy, funding schools, public safety, and the Permanent Fund. But years of regulatory overreach, rejected project permits, and federal land grabs have choked investment and driven away the companies and workers who built this state. As Governor, I will fight to open Alaska's resources to responsible development, streamline the permitting process, and send a clear message to investors: Alaska is open for business.
Lower Energy Costs for Alaska Families
High energy costs in rural Alaska are not just inconvenient, they're a crisis. Families in Bush communities can pay $10 or more per gallon of heating fuel. Even in Anchorage and the MatSu Valley, energy costs are a significant burden. A healthy resource development economy brings revenue and competition that drives prices down. I will also pursue state-level energy assistance reforms, push for the gasline that Alaska has been promised for decades, and work with local utilities and communities to find solutions that actually work.
Infrastructure: Getting Resources to Market
World-class resources are worthless if you can't move them. Alaska needs investment in roads, ports, pipelines, and transportation infrastructure that connect our communities and get our products to market. I will prioritize infrastructure development that serves the entire state, not just the population centers. The Ambler Road, access to the North Slope, and connectivity for rural communities are all part of a comprehensive infrastructure vision for Alaska.
Alaska as a Global Energy Leader
The world needs energy, and Alaska can provide it, cleanly, responsibly, and at scale. LNG exports, critical minerals for the energy transition, and our vast renewable resources put Alaska in a position to lead. I will work to make Alaska a preferred supplier of energy and minerals to our allies, bringing revenue, jobs, and global strategic importance to our state. Alaska should be setting the global standard for responsible resource development, not being blocked by it.
Environmental Stewardship
Responsible development means protecting what makes Alaska special. Our wilderness, fisheries, wildlife, and way of life are not at odds with energy development, they require thoughtful management. I believe in science-based environmental standards, meaningful community input on major projects, and holding industry accountable to the highest standards. We can develop our resources and leave a healthy Alaska for future generations. That's not a compromise, it's the Alaska way.
