Meet MATT Heilala
Dr. Matt Heilala is a born-and-raised Alaskan. Matt met his wife, Stacey, in junior high, and they started dating at Soldotna High School. He began commercial fishing at the age of nine in Cook Inlet and by fourteen, he was in Bristol Bay. By eighteen, he had become a skipper. He earned his medical degree in Podiatric medicine and surgery and started his practice, as well as other ventures, employing hundreds of Alaskans in Anchorage and the Mat-Su Valley.
Matt and Stacey are celebrating 35 years of marriage and share two children and three grandchildren (a fourth is pending).
Alaska’s Governor, Congressional Delegation, and the current President have put Alaska in a position for unprecedented economic opportunities. Like most Alaskans, Matt has watched personality clashes create gridlock in the state legislature. Matt Heilala presents new leadership to turn those opportunities into action.
“I believe that public service is a commitment, not a prize to be won. I will be a hands-on Governor, engaging with legislators daily to build consensus and turn opportunities into plans—and plans into action.
It is always possible to find common ground without compromising critical principles. To think otherwise is to accept gridlock, and letting gridlock hinder progress is a crime against the people of Alaska.
I have the skills and experience to help guide Alaska into an economic boom that is within our grasp. I look forward to talking with Alaskans from across the state over the next year and earning your support and vote to be Alaska’s next Governor.”
